10 years ago I met the incredible Hannes Staehli, a veritable climbing legend born and bred in the Bernese Alps of Switzerland .

Through some family friends, I acted as his guide on a few climbing trips to the Blue Mountains and Hannes always wanted to repay the favour if I ever came to Switzerland.

Last year I finally managed to visit Hannes and his wife Monica in their mountain paradise.

On the last day of my visit I sat Hannes down and asked him to tell me his story.

There is a lot more I could have put into this video - his climbing family, his stonemasonry work - No overlay, lots of jump cuts…inexcusable in terms of professionalism…but I’m glad I got his story and thoughts on climbing recorded for posterity.
